Visual & Surface Inspection
- External visual per MSS SP-55 (casting quality) or equivalent
- Paint / coating DFT measurement per ISO 12944
- Identification marking: tag number, heat number, pressure class, material, and flow direction
- End protection: bore caps and thread protectors fitted
Pre-Despatch Inspection (PDI)
- Final punch list verification against client purchase order
- Tag number vs MTC vs valve serial number traceability check
- All documents compiled and reviewed before release
- TPI witness point cleared (if applicable) before crating
TPI Fully Welcomed
We welcome third-party inspection at any stage of manufacturing or pre-despatch. An Inspection Test Plan (ITP) is prepared for every TPI order, clearly defining witness points, hold points, review points, and the documentation to be reviewed at each stage.
ITPs are submitted to the client and TPI agency prior to the start of production. Inspection co-ordination — including scheduling, access, test equipment, and documentation — is managed by our quality team.
Mandatory hold points (W = Witness, H = Hold) are defined in the ITP. No stage proceeds until the inspector releases the hold point in writing.
Approved TPI Agencies We Work With
Standards & Codes Applied
All quality, testing, documentation, and material requirements are governed by the following internationally recognised standards.
PMI — Positive Material Identification
XRF-based PMI conducted on all stainless steel, duplex, super duplex, Hastelloy, Inconel, and Monel valves. Results reported against ASTM/EN composition limits. Eliminates wrong-alloy risk — critical for chemical, sour service, and cryogenic applications.
NACE MR0175 Sour Service
Hardness testing on all pressure-retaining parts per NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 limits. Carbon equivalent verification on CS materials. SSCC-resistant packing options. Full documentation trail from material heat to finished valve for H2S service qualification.
Fugitive Emission — ISO 15848
Low-emission packing qualification per ISO 15848-1 Class AH / BH available for gate, globe, ball, and butterfly valves. Required under OISD 118, EPA Method 21, and EU IED regulations. Graphite packing with anti-extrusion rings standard on Class 600 and above.
Packaging & Preservation Standard
All valves are shipped in closed position with bore ends protected by plastic/cardboard end caps. External surfaces receive rust-preventive oil coating or VCI (Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor) film wrapping for corrosion protection during transit and storage. Flanged ends are covered with plywood or plastic flange protectors.
Individual valves are wrapped in stretch film and placed in wooden cases or crates lined with shock-absorbing material. Cases are stencilled with purchase order number, tag numbers, gross weight, and handling instructions. Each package contains a packing slip cross-referencing all documents inside.
For export shipments: ISPM-15 heat-treated wooden crates, fumigation certificate, and marine-grade packaging standard are applied. Origin marking per importing country requirements.
Quality Assurance — FAQ
What documents ship with every Vajra valve order?
Every order ships with: EN 10204 3.1 Material Test Certificate (MTC) traceable to heat number, hydrostatic shell and seat test report per API 598 / ISO 5208, dimensional inspection report, and packing list with heat-number-to-tag-number traceability. PMI report is included for all alloy valves. IBR forms, fire-safe certificates, and coating reports are provided where applicable.
Are NABL-accredited test certificates available?
Yes. For IBR, OISD, PESO, or client specifications requiring NABL-accredited MTCs, we supply certificates from NABL-accredited laboratories covering chemical composition and full mechanical properties with the lab's accreditation number.
Does Vajra allow third-party inspection?
Fully. TPI by SGS, Bureau Veritas, TUV, DNV, Intertek, LR, CEIL, PDIL, EIL, or owner-nominated agencies is co-ordinated by our quality team. An ITP with witness and hold points is prepared for every TPI order. All TPI is scheduled, facilitated, and documented by us.
What is EN 10204 3.1 and why does it matter?
EN 10204 3.1 is the international standard for material test certificates. A 3.1 certificate means the MTC is issued by the material manufacturer and validated by their authorised representative — it is traceable to the specific heat number of the material in your valve. This is the minimum standard required by EPC contractors, refineries, and most industrial plants. All Vajra orders include 3.1 level MTCs as standard.
