Valve Standards Applicability Matrix
Which standard governs which valve type — and at which pressure class. The spec-writer's index across 50 valve standards, so you cite the right one on every datasheet and bid.
Which standard applies to my valve type?
A valve datasheet usually cites a primary design standard plus testing and material standards. Ball valves are typically specified to API 6D or API 608 / BS 5351; gate, globe and check valves to API 600 / API 602 / API 623 / BS 1873 / API 594; butterfly valves to API 609 / AWWA C504; and all of them are pressure-rated to ASME B16.34, fire-tested to API 607, and inspection-tested to API 598. The matrix below lists every standard that governs each valve type and pressure class.

Writing a valve specification?
Tell us the valve type, class and service — we supply to the right standards (API 6D, API 600, API 609, ASME B16.34) with matching test certification.
