Central Asia holds some of the world's largest hydrocarbon reserves. Kazakhstan's Tengiz field (Tengizchevroil — Chevron, ExxonMobil, KazMunayGas, LukArco) produces over 700,000 bopd; Kashagan (NCOC consortium) in the North Caspian is the world's largest post-Soviet oil discovery. Uzbekistan (Uzbekneftegaz, LUKOIL Gas) and Turkmenistan (Turkmengaz, TAPI Pipeline) are major gas producers requiring large volumes of industrial valves.

Kazakhstan — Tengiz, Kashagan, and KazMunayGas

Tengiz and Kashagan crudes are highly sour (H₂S up to 25% in associated gas) — NACE MR0175 compliance is mandatory for all wetted components. Kashagan also operates at extremely high pressure (Class 2500 service is common). Valve specifications: API 6D trunnion ball valves with DBB and ESD actuation, API 600 gate valves in Duplex 2205 or Super Duplex 2507 for sour service, API 526 safety valves.

GOST Certification and Russian Standards

Many Central Asian projects specify GOST R (Russian State Standards) or EAC (Eurasian Conformity) marking in addition to API standards. For purely API-spec projects (Chevron, Shell, ENI-operated fields), GOST is not required.
