The Czech Republic is a significant industrial market for valve procurement in Central Europe. MOL Group's Kralupy nad Vltavou refinery (3.5 MT/yr) and Unipetrol's Litvínov complex (5.8 MT/yr, now MOL Group subsidiary) together form one of Central Europe's largest refining and petrochemical clusters. CEZ Group — the Czech national utility — operates Dukovany NPP (2 × VVER-440, 2,000 MW) and Temelín NPP (2 × VVER-1000, 2,160 MW), creating sustained demand for industrial valves. The Sporka/Litvínov petrochemical complex produces ethylene, polyethylene, and polypropylene requiring stainless steel and alloy-lined butterfly and ball valves.
MOL Group Czech Refineries — Valve Requirements
MOL Kralupy refinery processes Russian Ural crude and North Sea blends through CDU, VDU, FCCU, and hydroprocessing units. Standard valve specifications: API 600 bolted-bonnet gate valves (WCB, WC9) for crude distillation; API 6D Class 300–600 ball valves for pipeline and product transfer; API 526/527 safety relief valves with ASME UV stamp and CDTP per API 520 Part I; API 609 triple-offset butterfly valves for hot FCC regenerator service. All valves for Czech EU facilities must carry PED 2014/68/EU CE marking and EN 10204 3.1 MTCs.
CEZ Group — Power Plant Valve Procurement
CEZ Group's thermal and nuclear power stations use industrial valves extensively. Prunéřov and Mělník coal-fired stations require ASME B16.34 Class 900–1500 gate and globe valves in alloy steel (WC9, C12A) for main steam, feedwater, and reheat service per ASME B31.1 Power Piping. Dukovany and Temelín nuclear stations have ongoing outage maintenance requirements for non-safety-class valves — ASME B16.34 gate, globe, and butterfly valves with 100% PMI and positive material identification in the procurement documentation are standard requirements.
Unipetrol / ORLEN Litvínov — Petrochemical Valves
The Záluží complex at Litvínov hosts Unipetrol (now ORLEN subsidiary) ethylene cracker (544,000 t/yr), polyolefin plants, and Synthos styrene/elastomers. Key valve needs: SS 316L ball valves and butterfly valves for polyolefin monomer service; PTFE-lined ball valves and butterfly valves for acid and chlorinated solvent service in synthetic rubber production; globe control valves for ethylene cracker feed/effluent temperature control. PED 2014/68/EU certification with SIL 2 assessment is required for ESD valves in ATEX classified areas.
Spolana Neratovice — Chlor-Alkali and Isocyanate
Spolana Neratovice (owned by OCI N.V.) produces chlorine, PVC, and MDI — requiring Hastelloy C-276 and titanium ball valves and globe valves for wet chlorine gas service, PTFE-lined butterfly valves for HCl and caustic soda, and high-alloy needle valves for chlorine metering. ISO 5208 Rate A (zero leakage) seat tightness is mandatory for chlorine service valves.
Regulatory Requirements — PED CE for Czech Market
All industrial valves sold into the Czech Republic for Category II, III, or IV pressure equipment must carry CE marking per PED 2014/68/EU. Key documentation: EC Declaration of Conformity per PED Annex II; EN 10204 3.1 Material Test Certificates for all pressure boundary materials; Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) per EN 12266 or API 598; ATEX certificate (ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU) for actuated valves in explosive atmospheres. Czech customs (Celní správa ČR) requires EUR.1 certificate of origin for Indian-origin goods under EU-India trade terms.
