West Africa is one of the world's most active upstream oil and gas regions — Nigeria holds the largest proven reserves in Africa (37 billion barrels), Ghana's Jubilee and TEN fields are among sub-Saharan Africa's most productive offshore assets, and Côte d'Ivoire's Foxtrot and Baleine fields are attracting major IOC investment. All these projects demand API 6D, ASME B16.34, and NACE MR0175 certified valves with third-party inspection — requirements that Indian manufacturers like Vajra Industrial Solutions are well-positioned to meet at competitive prices.
Nigeria — NLNG, SPDC, and the Niger Delta
Nigeria LNG (NLNG) at Bonny Island operates 6 trains producing 22 MTPA and is progressing Train 7 (additional 8 MTPA). SPDC (Shell), TotalEnergies, and Eni operate extensive onshore and offshore production. Valve requirements: API 6D trunnion ball valves (Class 600–1500) for flowlines, slab gate valves for trunk pipelines, and NACE MR0175 compliant gate/globe/check valves for sour Niger Delta crude. DUNS procurement and DPR (Department of Petroleum Resources — now NUPRC) local content requirements apply for Nigerian projects.
Ghana — Jubilee, TEN, and Tema Oil Refinery
The Jubilee FPSO (Tullow/Aker BP/GNPC, 80,000 bopd) and TEN FPSO operate in the Deepwater Tano block. Tema Oil Refinery (45,000 bpd) is undergoing expansion. Valve requirements: Duplex 2205 and Super Duplex 2507 ball and gate valves for FPSO topsides, corrosion-resistant butterfly valves for seawater cooling, and standard API 6D for onshore refinery service. Bureau Veritas or Intertek inspection is typically required by GNPC projects.
Certification and Inspection for West African Projects
- API 6D trunnion ball valves (Class 150–2500) — DBB, fire-safe, anti-static, NACE MR0175 optional
- ASME B16.34 gate, globe, and check valves — A216 WCB, A351 CF8M, A890 Duplex 2205
- Third-party inspection: SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek, or COTECNA for Nigeria/Ghana
- Export documentation: CO (Certificate of Origin), EN 10204 3.1 MTCs, API 598 FAT, packing list
- DUNS number and Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) awareness for Nigerian EPC contractors
- Sea freight: Nhava Sheva → Apapa (Lagos) — 18–22 days; Tema (Ghana) — 20–25 days
