About the Pneumatic Pinch Valve
The pneumatic pinch valve uses compressed air pressure acting directly on the outside of the flexible rubber sleeve (in direct-acting designs) or on a pneumatic cylinder that drives the pinch bars (in cylinder-actuated designs) to close the valve. In the most compact direct-acting design, the sleeve is enclosed in an air-tight housing: applying air pressure to the housing squeezes the sleeve closed; venting the housing allows the sleeve to spring back open. This eliminates the need for a separate actuator - the compressed air acts directly on the sleeve, making the valve extremely fast-acting (typical close time 0.5–2 seconds) and mechanically simple with no moving actuator parts.
Pneumatic pinch valves are the preferred automated valve for batch processing operations handling slurry, powder, or viscous material: each batch dose is controlled by the time the valve remains open, or by integrating the valve with a flow meter in a PLC batch control loop.
