What does ASME B16.10 require for gate valves?
ASME B16.10 (Face-to-Face and End-to-End Dimensions of Valves, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)) sets the design, material and testing requirements for gate valves in its scope. ASME B16.10 standardises the face-to-face (FTF) and end-to-end (ETE) dimensions of flanged and butt-welding end valves to ensure interchangeability between valves from different manufacturers. When a replacement valve is specified to B16.10, it can be installed in the same flanged or welded space envelope as the original - critical for plant maintenance and turnaround planning. All major valve types (gate, globe, swing check, ball, butterfly) have specific B16.10 dimension tables.
