About the Double Block & Bleed Ball Valve

The Double Block and Bleed (DBB) ball valve integrates two independent seating surfaces - upstream and downstream - within a single compact valve body, together with a dedicated bleed port in the body cavity between the seats. When both seats are sealed against line pressure and the bleed valve is opened, any fluid trapped in the inter-seat cavity can be vented to atmosphere or a drain system. If the cavity remains pressurised after the bleed valve is opened, this immediately indicates a seat failure - making DBB an essential verification tool for safety-critical isolation. The DIB-1 (Double Isolation and Bleed) variant provides isolation from both pipeline directions simultaneously with a single body.

DBB ball valves replace what would conventionally require two separate block valves and one bleed valve - replacing three flanged connections with a single compact body. This reduces weight, face-to-face length, fugitive emission leak points, and overall cost significantly on metering skids, chemical injection headers, and pipeline pigging station manifolds.
