Industrial Valves for Power & Energy

ASME Class 600–2500 Valves for Thermal, Nuclear & Gas Turbine Power Plants

Power generation plants operate some of the most severe service conditions encountered in any industry — superheated steam above 600°C, main steam pressures up to 300 bar, and feedwater systems cycling millions of times over the plant's life. Vajra Industrial Solutions supplies ASME B16.34 Class 600 to Class 2500 gate, globe, check, and safety valves engineered specifically for power plant service.

Key Power Applications

We supply application-specific valve solutions for each segment of the power & energy industry.

01

Main Steam System

ASME Class 1500 and Class 2500 gate and globe valves for main steam stop-check, turbine bypass, and isolation service. Alloy steel (A217 WC9, C5) bodies rated for superheated steam. Rising stem, OS&Y design for valve position indication from a distance.

02

Boiler Feedwater

Check valves and globe valves for high-pressure boiler feedwater pump discharge lines. Non-return check valves prevent back-flow and protect feed pumps from reverse rotation. Trim hardened to resist erosion from high-velocity feedwater.

03

Safety & Relief Valves

ASME Section I (power boilers) and Section VIII safety valves for steam drum, superheater, and reheater safety protection. Spring-loaded, direct-acting designs. ASME Code stamped (UV, NB, and V marks). Set pressure range 10–300 bar.

Safety Relief Valves (ASME Section I)Pilot-Operated Safety Valves
04

Cooling Water & Condenser

Large-diameter butterfly valves (DN200–DN2000) for condenser cooling water inlet and outlet, circulating water pump discharge, and cooling tower connections. EPDM or BUNA-N seated, cast iron or ductile iron body for low-pressure, high-flow service.

Gas Turbine & Combined Cycle

High-temperature ball valves and globe valves for gas turbine fuel gas supply, air inlet, and cooling circuits. Stainless steel 316 body and trim for fuel gas isolation. ASME B16.34 Class 300–900 for fuel gas system.

Frequently Asked Questions — Power Valves

What ASME pressure class is needed for main steam valves in a 600°C power plant?+
For main steam operating conditions above 560°C (1040°F) and 250 bar (3600 psi), valves must be ASME Class 2500. For subcritical plants (main steam 165–180 bar), Class 1500 is standard. ASME B16.34 Table 2 provides the exact pressure-temperature ratings for each material class. Vajra supplies gate, globe, and check valves in Class 600 through Class 2500 for all power plant configurations.
What material is used for main steam valves?+
The standard material for main steam valves in subcritical and supercritical power plants is ASTM A217 WC9 (2.25Cr-1Mo alloy steel), which is rated to 593°C (1100°F) and 240 bar under ASME B16.34. For ultra-supercritical plants above 600°C, Grade C12A (9Cr-1Mo-V, P91) is required. Forged body valves use the equivalent forging materials (F22 for WC9 equivalent, F91 for C12A equivalent).
Are your safety valves ASME code stamped?+
Yes, our safety valves for power boiler service carry the ASME V stamp (steam boiler safety valves) and NB (National Board) registration. For pressure vessels, we supply ASME UV stamped safety valves. All ASME-stamped valves are manufactured with documented material traceability and test reports in compliance with ASME Section I or Section VIII as applicable.
What size butterfly valves do you supply for cooling water service?+
We supply double-flanged and lug-type butterfly valves in sizes DN200 (8") to DN2000 (80") for cooling water and circulating water service. Standard construction is ductile iron body, ductile iron disc (or SS304 for aggressive water), EPDM seat, Class 150 flanging. For seawater cooling, we supply duplex SS or rubber-lined butterfly valves with enhanced corrosion resistance.
