BS 1873
BritishSteel Globe and Globe Stop and Check Valves (Flanged and Butt-Welding Ends) for the Petroleum, Petrochemical and Allied Industries
BS 1873 is the British Standard for steel globe valves and globe stop-and-check valves with flanged and butt-welding ends, covering petroleum, petrochemical, and allied industries.
What is BS 1873?
BS 1873 (Steel Globe and Globe Stop and Check Valves (Flanged and Butt-Welding Ends) for the Petroleum, Petrochemical and Allied Industries) is an industrial valve standard issued by British Standards Institution (BSI). Covers carbon steel and alloy steel globe valves and globe stop-and-check valves in flanged (ASME B16.5 or EN 1092-1) and butt-welding (ASME B16.25) end configurations.

Overview - BS 1873
BS 1873 is the British Standard for steel globe valves and globe stop-and-check valves with flanged and butt-welding ends, covering petroleum, petrochemical, and allied industries. It is the UK/European counterpart to API 623 and specifies design, material, dimensional, testing, and marking requirements for globe valves intended for process plant service, including North Sea offshore platforms and UK refineries. BS 1873 globe stop-and-check valves are particularly valued for steam turbine bypass and boiler feed service where flow direction reversal can occur.
Scope
Covers carbon steel and alloy steel globe valves and globe stop-and-check valves in flanged (ASME B16.5 or EN 1092-1) and butt-welding (ASME B16.25) end configurations. Size range NPS ½" through NPS 24", pressure classes ASME 150 through 2500 or PN 16 through PN 400. Intended for petroleum, petrochemical, gas processing, and power generation applications.
Vajra Industrial Solutions manufactures and supplies valves engineered to comply with BS 1873, each delivered with BS 1873 compliance certificate and Shell and seat pressure test certificates as standard.
