Key Properties — Diesel Fuel / Fuel Oil
- Carbon steel is the standard material for all diesel and fuel oil service
- Flash point: HSD ~52°C, HFO >60°C — fire-safe valves required
- Heavy fuel oil (HFO/Bunker C) is viscous — heat tracing required below 50°C
- Waxy crude fractions may precipitate in dead-legs below pour point
- Marine diesel: biocide addition can affect elastomers
