Food and beverage: dairy, brewing, and bottling service
Nitric acid and other mildly oxidising acids at ambient temperature
General chemical service in non-chloride, non-reducing environments
Pulp and paper: weak liquors and wash water
Not Suitable For
High chloride environments (seawater, brine) — use 316L or duplex
Reducing acids (HCl, H₂SO₄) at any significant concentration — use Hastelloy
Service above 425°C — sensitisation risk; use stabilised grades (321, 347)
Sour (H₂S) service without specific hardness control
